The neighbourhood Schipperskwartier manifests itself as an enclave in the urban fabric, as it is enclosed by the Rijswijkseweg, the railway and water. Currently, the living area consists almost completely of social housing. The location finds itself in between the central area of The Hague and the Binckhorst perfectly fitting with the CID (Central Innovation District).
The position in combination with the surrounding infrastructures enhance the potential of this plot that is now not properly emphasized. These are the reasons to explore further the area with the aim of unifying and creating new identity for the entire city.
The presence of the water around the plot in combination with the easy accessibility brought us fast to the realisation of a strong concept in which meeting spots for the community as well as for the whole city, sport facilities, urban gardens, horeca, mix of towers and classic courtyards buildings come together in an exciting green island.
