Architecten van Mourik has been asked to conduct a study into the expansion of the office at Jachthavenweg 130. This is part of the four office pavilions that architecten van Mourik designed back in 1994. The assignment concerns the office pavilion furthest from the highway.
Office pavilions designed by architecten van Mourik in 1994
The existing office pavilions are located on the edge of the Nieuwe Meer and directly visible from the A10 ring road. The area belongs to the head of the Zuidas on the border between city and nature. The existing office pavilions are multi-faceted in nature and informally placed in relation to each other.
Concept for the extension of the office pavilion
A condition for the expansion is the realization of an airy and transparent volume that does not try to compete with the existing office pavilions. The new pavilion has the unambiguous shape of a cube, is separated from the existing office volume and has maximum transparency. This brings nature closer to the offices.

Situation
The transparent extension ensures maximum respect for the existing sandstone and copper building as well as the extension itself. In this way, the interior becomes part of the environment and the environment becomes part of the interior. The airy extension follows the existing but also leaves the existing in its entirety.
Interior impression
The new volume has two floors, directly connected to the interior of the existing pavilion. This makes the volume, as it were, float above the terrace floor on the parking volume. A restaurant is located on the first floor. On the second floor there is a meeting center including a foyer.
