Campus café

A campus café has been designed as a temporary location, until the Free University's new city campus has been completed, as part of the Zuidas development. The café has been designed as a meeting point for users of the entire campus. Students, lecturers, scientific personnel and staff members can sit and chat here, enjoy food and drinks, relax, give or hear presentations, play music or whatever else they want to do. The wooden pavilion is very inviting, with French windows all round, wooden slats as sun screens which can be opened in the daytime and closed at nights for security purposes. A central area with full kitchen and a spacious bar offers all the necessary facilities. A section can be closed off with a sliding wall, creating a backcloth for the VU curriculum without disturbing the other guests or being disturbed by them. The roof has a terrace with outdoor bar. Around the pavilion are beach volleyball fields, sun terraces, benches and a patio.
