Fokker Business park partial plan 8

The assignment was gained after winning a multiple assignment in June 2001. The plan comprises approx. 32,000 m² offices at a partial location (island) of an offices strip on the former Fokker site. The design for this first island is a determining urban development factor for the four remaining office islands. Seven office volumes were devised on an artificially raised ground floor with underground parking facilities, with green recreation courtyards and paved entrance courtyards of various orientations, between the volumes. The building forms an evident yet transparent border of the industrial estate. The tension between recognisable diversity on the one hand and powerful simplicity on the other, determined the architectonic challenge for this large project. Materials: natural slate, aluminium, screened glass.
