Publicis advertising agency

This building was designed for an advertising agency and a marketing company, which eventually became very integrated, due to the binding force of the atrium. And so the building complied with one of its basic principles, the original idea being to express the presence of two separate organisations with a shared added value in-between. The design was provided within a multiple assignment, as a turnkey project together with a developer. The rectangular office blocks have efficient dimensions and facades of dark brick and black aluminium frames. This facade treatment gives them a certain prestige without them becoming aloof. They are positioned in relation to each other in such a manner that they make a receptive gesture on the entrance side and, thanks to a displacement, also open out onto the garden and landscape. This same displacement also gives a reduction in the interface with the atrium in-between, so that a maximum number of work stations could be created on the outer facade. The atrium contains the entrance, stairs, lifts, bridges with pantries and the restaurant. Whereas the office volumes have a closed character, the communal atrium is as transparent and open as possible. In order to prevent the atrium from overheating, it is covered with a gleaming roof wing which hovers just above the office volumes. This sky floor contains the communal conference rooms and logotype of the building. Due to the shape of the roof and the partially visible construction, the sky floor interior exudes the atmosphere of an attic, in keeping with the working processes organised there. The wing and atrium establish a relationship between the commercial world of prominent locations on the one hand and the green landscape with water and fields on the other side of the building. And thus it expresses the character of its residents, as the design supports not only the mutual contact but also the message of a powerful and open communication with the world.
