Five office buildings were completed in Utrecht, Rijnsweerd in 1995, known as the Archiparc. The original plan, situated around a pond, comprised 6 plots, but plot D development was delayed. In 2001, ING Real Estate assigned architecten van Mourik to design a lease office of 3,000 m² for the top end of the market, for plot D. The reason for selecting architecten van Mourik was the architectonic quality of the Zuiderhof office pavilions in Amsterdam, and this architecture was therefore a principle for the design. When designing plot D, the urban development axes of the Archiparc were taken into account, one of which is a square with a pond in it. The combination of a receded natural stone facade, an extra storey and the monumental horizontal projection at a great height ensures that the new office really forms a wall to the square. The facade fragment with floor to ceiling glass reflects the pond, and behind it are characteristic rooms such as a library, a lounge and conference rooms, linked to one another by open galleries.
The office is currently leased to O&i project management agency, for whom architecten van Mourik has developed a customised interior, with the emphasis on multiple deployment of spaces and flexibility. The ground floor has rooms suitable for training courses and workshops, while a multifunctional area was developed on the fourth floor, which can serve as both a company restaurant and an auditorium.
